Maria has an expansive background in movement across more than two decades.
It all began with a passion for dance, discovered at the age of 6. This passion led into her late teens and early twenties, where she began teaching ballet to kiddos & also started a semi-professional contemporary dance company in North Carolina. Around this time she discovered a new passion: Pilates & barre. After becoming certified to teach these modalities 15 years ago, she launched into the world of teaching full-time.

Discovering movement,
for every body.
—
While navigating life as a neurodivergent queer woman, Maria quickly discovered (sometimes through her experience and sometimes through observing others) that movement was not as accessible as it should be. Watching folks be marginalized by body type, skin color, sexual identity, and finances broke her heart, and she swore one day she would create a space safe for all. Today she has finally been able to do that.
More Than Movement
It isn’t just about the modalities themselves at Moonbeam Wellness. This is a community. This is a place that wants to give back, that wants to inspire, empower, and amplify silenced voices. We will grow together, and lift each other up. We will take up space. We will resist oppression and flourish as a unified front, while taking care of our physical bodies and mental health.
Community First
Outside of movement, Maria is an avid supporter of wellness in a post-birthing or post-pregnant body. She offers postpartum doula services, as well as abortion and miscarriage support. More information on this found in the postpartum tabs on the website.
